Hello and welcome to From Silence to Sound. If we haven’t met yet: I’m Thomas Lemmer—a composer, producer, and now author. For 15+ years I’ve released ambient and downtempo music (18 albums and counting), explored immersive audio like Dolby Atmos, and in 2025 I was honored with the German Songwriting Award.
I’m excited to share that the manuscript for my new book, From Silence to Sound – Unlocking Creativity in Music Production, is finished. It’s currently in editorial review, and I’m working closely with TAYLOR & FRANCIS GROUP / Routledge to finalize everything.
Why I wrote this book
I wanted a clear, practical guide to creativity in music—one that balances art and technique without killing the spark. I wrote it to:
- demystify the creative process,
- give you frameworks you can use today,
- show how personal decisions shape a signature sound,
- help you finish work you’re proud of.
It’s the book I wish I’d had starting out—and the one I still reach for when I’m stuck.

This site is the book’s companion and a living extension of it. Books have a finish line; creativity doesn’t. Here I can:
