Depending on how you use the website, we may process:
- Technical access data (e.g., IP address, time of access, requested page, referrer, browser/device information, error codes).
- Contact data if you email us (e.g., your email address and message content).
- Newsletter data if you subscribe (email address, name fields if provided, subscription and confirmation timestamps/consent proof, and—if enabled—basic interaction data such as opens/clicks).
- Analytics/tracking: We currently do not use web analytics or tracking tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Pixel) on this website.
- Consent choices from our cookie consent tool (your selections, consent timestamp, and technical identifiers needed to store your preference).
2.3 Hosting & server logs
This website is hosted by STRATO GmbH (Germany). For technical operation and security, server log data is processed (see 2.2).

2.5 Newsletter
On this website you can subscribe to our newsletter to receive updates about the book, new interviews/articles, and related resources.
- Double opt-in: We use a confirmation email to verify your subscription.
- Newsletter provider (processor): Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, 17 rue de Salneuve, 75017 Paris, France).
- Data processed: email address, name fields (if provided), subscription and confirmation timestamps, and information required to prove consent. Depending on configuration, Brevo may also provide statistics (e.g., whether an email was opened or a link was clicked).
Legal basis: Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in each newsletter or by contacting us.
Processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR): We use Brevo as a processor under a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) / data processing terms provided by Brevo.
International transfers: Brevo is based in the EU. Depending on technical setup and any sub-processors, processing may also take place outside the EEA. Where applicable, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards (e.g., adequacy decision and/or EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
2.6 Cookies & consent management
We use a cookie consent tool to manage cookie choices and to document your consent.
- Consent tool: CookieYes (CookieYes Limited, UK).
- What it does: stores your cookie preferences and creates a consent log.
Legal basis:
- For storing/accessing information on your device that is not strictly necessary, we rely on your consent under § 25(1) TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
- Strictly necessary cookies/technologies are used under § 25(2) TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (secure, functional website).
You can change your selection at any time via the cookie banner or the “Cookie settings” link/button provided by CookieYes (make sure this link/button is active and visible on the page/footer).
2.7 Embedded content and external links
Links to third-party platforms
Our pages contain links to third-party platforms (e.g., Spotify, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube). When you click such a link, data (e.g., your IP address) is transmitted to the external provider, and their privacy policies apply.
Embedded media (Spotify / YouTube / Instagram)
Some pages may include embedded media (e.g., Spotify players, YouTube videos, Instagram posts). When an embed is loaded, your browser connects to the respective provider and personal data (in particular your IP address and device information) may be processed. Providers may also set cookies or use similar technologies.
Consent (current status): At present, embedded media may be loaded as soon as you access the page. We intend to implement consent-based content blocking via CookieYes so that embedded media will only load after you give consent. Until that is in place, visiting pages with embedded media may result in a connection to the respective provider.
2.8 Recipients / processors
We use service providers that process data on our behalf under Art. 28 GDPR, in particular:

2.9 Retention
We store personal data only as long as necessary:
- Server logs: typically a short period for security and troubleshooting.
- Contact inquiries: until the request is fully handled; longer only if required for legal documentation.
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe.
- Consent logs: as long as needed to demonstrate consent and comply with legal obligations.
2.10 Your rights
You have the rights under Arts. 15–22 GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection. You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.
